Ski Opening in St. Anton am Arlberg
The start of winter in Tyrol has a special magic: when the first lifts are running, the slopes are freshly groomed and the valley awakens in a festive mood, it’s that time again – the ski opening in St. Anton am Arlberg. Here, where skiing history has been written for over 100 years, your skiing vacation in Tyrol begins with tradition, emotion and comfort.
The cradle of alpine skiing
St. Anton is not just a destination, but a symbol of skiing. History was made as early as 1901 with the Ski-Club Arlberg, and a little later Hannes Schneider developed the famous Arlberg technique here. The FIS World Championships in 2001 further cemented the village’s reputation as the “cradle of alpine skiing”. Today, Ski Arlberg is one of the largest ski resorts in the world – with over 300 km of pistes, around 200 km of off-piste runs and the legendary Run of Fame circuit.
Ski Opening 2025: An experience for all the senses
The opening is more than just the first day of skiing of the season. It is a celebration for winter sports fans, connoisseurs and party lovers. Early in the morning, freshly groomed slopes beckon, at lunchtime there are rustic huts to stop off at, and in the evening St. Anton is transformed into a stage for après-ski with international flair.
❄️ Winter start with goosebump moments
When the lifts open in St. Anton, anticipation is in the air. As early as the beginning of December, the Arlberg awaits the first turns of the season with perfectly groomed pistes. There are also opening events in the village, a musical atmosphere on several stages and the legendary après-ski right on the valley run – a perfect start to the winter.
