For the 43rd time, the international symposium for maxillofacial surgeons, oral surgeons, dentists and orthodontists will take place in February 2024. Hundreds of physicians from all over Europe will meet again this year in the WellCom congress center in St. Anton am Arlberg, which is already well known from previous symposia and has proven its worth, in order to exchange ideas and to further develop together in the respective specialties.

The roots of the International Symposium AINS in St. Anton go back to Prof. Dr. Ingrid Podlesch, University Hospital Düsseldorf. She founded the St. Anton Anesthesia Days nearly four decades ago as an educational forum by anesthesiologists for anesthesiologists that focused on clinical practice issues in patient care.

The high professional level, the generous duration of the congress of one week and the consistent annual offer of the congress have certainly contributed a lot to the success and popularity of this congress.

As probably is the fact that this congress takes place in the middle of the ski season in one of the most famous ski resorts in the world. Even if each of the attending physicians enjoys an extensive exchange with professional colleagues, listens spellbound to lectures or engages in passionate discussions – there is always a little time for a side trip to the fantastic slopes of the Arlberg.

The annual rhythm, the duration of the conference of one week and the choice of location of the winterly Arlberg took into account the intention to noticeably promote the professional collegial exchange with a qualified advanced training offer.

This core idea of the symposium, to promote the professional collegial exchange with a qualified advanced training offer – this core idea has been preserved until today.

The founder has assigned the scientific and organizational event management at the turn of the century to Prof. Dr. Gabriele Nöldge-Schomburg, University Medicine Rostock. With her and the specially founded, committed “Rostock St. Anton Team”, the symposium has grown over the years, differentiated medically into the four specialist pillars of AINS, and condensed and multiplied in the range of programs. Through the interfaces with other specialties and health professions, it also provides a forum for interdisciplinarity – evident in the provenance of the still “hand-picked” speakers.

Both the German and Austrian Medical Associations grant continuing education certificates for the event. This makes it possible to cover a significant portion of the annual continuing medical education requirement by attending the congress.

St. Anton – THE SYMPOSIUM

A traditional forum for a scientific
Discussion in a collegial and respectful manner
Discussion atmosphere. The wide range of topics, the
direct level of discussion with the speakers and
the content-rich workshops have been our
Trademark.

Advanced training points

These are distributed as follows:

  • Scientific program per session: 5
  • Workshop ( depending on the duration): 3- 7 points.
  • The DAAF ( German Academy for Anesthesiaological Training) and the BDA (Professional Association of German Anesthesiologists) act as patrons of the event.

As a primarily German-language event in the heart of Europe, it has at the same time gained in internationality thanks to the continuously good participant response.

Lectures, courses, professional discussions and professional exhibitions for maxillofacial surgeons, oral surgeons, orthodontists and dentists.
The main task of the event is the future-oriented further development of the traditional event with high potential for science, further education and interdisciplinary discussion culture in a wintry ambience.

The program is interdisciplinary and has included the specialty of orthodontics since 2014.
Therefore, we expect another gain of common scientific and clinical knowledge for experienced colleagues, but also for juniors in the dental disciplines.
